It’s not often that we see Sam Thompson without Pete Wicks beside him these days as the pair have developed a super close friendship over the years.
Like Sam’s girlfriend Zara McDermott, Pete Wicks has remained a constant support to Made in Chelsea star Sam, from when they met on Celebs Go Dating to when Sam jetted to Australia to take on I’m A Celebrity alongside Nella Rose, Nigel Farage, Marvin Humes and more stars.
And, waiting at the end of the bridge, Pete was the first person Sam saw when he won the show.

They may have started out on TV shows that couldn’t be more different; TOWIE (Pete) and Made In Chelsea (Sam), but the reality stars have an incredibly close friendship.

How do Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks know each other?
Pete and Sam eventually appeared on the same reality series back in 2019, when they both signed up for series six of Celebs Go Dating.
They stayed in close contact from that moment and took their bromance to the next level when they landed their own show on E4 called Pete and Sam’s Reality News.
These days, they have their own podcast called Staying Relevant, where they discuss ‘what it takes to stay relevant in the public eye’, reminiscing on iconic TV moments and chatting with celebrity guests.
How long have Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks been friends?
Sam and Pete have been friends for four years after meeting in 2019 on Celebs Go Dating. They were paired up on the show to help find each other dates, with Pete having to come to Sam’s rescue when his date ‘zoned out’ mid-conversation.
“You don’t let anyone tell you they’re zoning out when they’re out with you,” Pete told him.
What has Pete said about his friendship with Sam?
Pete often jokes about how ‘annoying’ he finds Sam, but has said some adorable things about his bestie over the years. As Sam took on the I’m A Celeb jungle, Pete opened up on their friendship, calling him a ‘very special man’.
Pete told OK! magazine: “He’s full on and annoys the s*** out of me, but that’s part and parcel of Sam. The most beautiful thing about Sam is that he’s unique.
“He’s a very special man and he’s got a genuine heart. He's one of the most genuine people and all he wants to do is entertain and make people smile. That's why I've missed him because I am much like a lot of people - quite miserable.”
While Sam was in the jungle Pete surprised him and they shared the most beautiful reunion. Pete told Sam he didn't know he could be so proud of someone telling him, "I wish I could be more like you".
