Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are getting a divorce, but when did they get married and how long were they together?
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are getting a divorce after six years together. They officially got married in June 2022 following her escape from her strict conservatorship at the end of 2021.
The pop star and model got together in 2016 and in June 2022 they tied the knot in front of a star-studded guest list that included Madonna, Paris Hilton and Selena Gomez.
However, just 14 months later it was revealed Sam has filed for divorce from Britney.
Sam cited 'irreconcilable differences' when filing their divorce papers earlier in August.

The couple were together for a long time now and Sam seemed to constantly support his partner through her conservatorship battle.

Why did Britney and Sam Asghari split?
Britney and Sam split this summer, with Sam filing for divorce in August 2023, citing 'irreconcilable differences.'
The publication claim Britney had Sam sign a prenup which maintains her assets as separate property. Hours after the news of their divorce was made public, Britney returned to social media to tell fans she was buying a horse.
When did Britney Spears and Sam Asghari get married?
Britney and Sam said 'I Do' during a fairytale ceremony at their Los Angeles home on June 9, 2022 – however, the event was crashed by Britney's ex-husband Jason Alexander, who was subsequently arrested.
Jason – who the star wed back in 2004 for just 55 hours before it was annulled – was charged with one count of misdemeanour vandalism, one count of misdemeanour trespassing and two counts of misdemeanour battery.
Despite the scary incident, it seemed the wedding was still a magical day for the newlyweds after a delay due to the intrusion.
Famous faces such as Selena Gomez, Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore and Donatella Versace were in attendance at the couples' dream nuptials – and by the looks of Instagram, everyone had a blast!
In one of Britney's posts, she gushed over the special day: "WE DID IT !!! WE GOT MARRIED!!! Gggggeeeeezzzzz !!! It was the most spectacular day [sic]."
The 'Toxic' hit-maker has always made it crystal clear on social media that she wants children with Sam – growing her family as she already shares sons Sean and Jayden with ex Kevin Federline.
In her court appearance in June 2021 for her conservatorship hearing the ‘Baby One More Time’ singer said: “I want to be able to get married and I want to have a baby.”
How long were Britney and Sam Asghari together?
Britney and Sam met on set of her ‘Slumber Party’ music video in October 2016 and they began dating shortly after.
They chatted all day and bonded over their love of sushi, swapping phone numbers at the end of the day so they could go on a proper date.
She recalled during a 2017 interview: “I found his number in my bag. I was like, ‘He is really really cute. So then I called him, and ever since then, he is just a really fun, funny person.”
Sam has remained a key support system in Britney’s life.

Sam seemed to be an ongoing support for Britney throughout her battle to remove her father as her conservator.
After her court hearing in June 2021 where she made some shocking claims about the team around her, Sam didn’t say much but posted a photo of himself wearing a ‘free Britney’ t-shirt.
